Heaven Instead will pay expenses for the burial or cremation of a fetal demise for those who meet the following criteria:
- Delivery of stillborn or infant with no signs of life.
- Delivery must occur >20 weeks' gestation and/or >350 grams in weight at the time of delivery.
- Fetal death occurring after delivery but within the hospital stay. Death may be due to premature delivery of non-viable infant, known congenital abnormality preventing extra-uterine life, or obstetric emergency during labor or delivery of infant resulting in death.
- Heaven Instead is currently only providing assistance in Houston and surrounding cities. Due to limited funding, we are unable to provide assistance in Austin/Dallas/San Antonio areas at this time.
- Must have a valid Texas ID
- Must be able to provide proof of financial hardship
What happens next if I am approved?
By submitting an application, you are allowing Heaven Instead representatives to speak with hospital staff and funeral home directors on your behalf.
Please understand that assistance amount varies. Approval of assistance depends on current funding available. We cannot guarantee full payment for services selected. If we are unable to offer assistance in the full amount, you are required to pay your portion first and Heaven Instead will make the final payment. A copy of the final contract must be received prior to our payment being processed.
Heaven Instead cannot reimburse families for expenses already paid to a funeral home.
Heaven Instead is not responsible for services provided by the funeral home. All arrangements should be made with a funeral director and questions regarding services provided should be directed to the funeral home and cemetery staff.
- Notification of approval via email/text
- Family will receive official commitment voucher which should be emailed or given to the funeral director.
- Family makes final arrangements with Funeral Director
- Heaven Instead receives signed contract from Funeral Home
- Payment submitted directly to Funeral Home
